I too read The Glass Castle, adore Charlotte’s Web, & am a huge C.S. Lewis fan… I love how you pulled them all together to reveal such a profound truth. Beth Welborn call those rats, “uglies” & has a great word picture she shares of it.

I’ll never forget Rex’ s solution for patching up a hole in the floorboards: grabbed a six-pack, drank it, and used the flattened aluminum cans as patches–never failed to take advantage of a good crisis!
